Strange but good.
The first set is strong, emphatic rock and roll. The second set is looser and kind of bizarre by RANA's standards. It happened just after their van was broken in to, and some of the extended numbers contain rants about it. Excellent sound thanks to the SBD patch.
Notes
Rose Hill Drive played between RANA's sets.
* - with "Smile" and "Go Left" teases
** - unfinished; with no "ooh-aah's" and a short jam before the segue into
"Ring"
*** - with new intro and "Friction" (Television) tease; featured a bizarre
sequence in which Andrew left the stage in mid-jam to retrieve something for his
bass rig, which led Matt to rap about "not having our own equipment," which led
to him lamenting that some of their gear was stolen in San Francisco, which led
to him blurting "Fuck San Francisco!" and leading a chant where he said "crack!"
and the audience said "head!"
& - with Matt on tambourine
% - the rap was "The Poo-Poo Song" (OutKast)
%% - with Matt doing an extended rap of "The Poo-Poo Song"
%%% - new, faster arrangement; last verse featured Andrew coming to Scott's mic
at center stage, the rest of the band slowing down to almost ballad pace, and
Andrew crooning Timberlake-style with a bright spotlight on him and the rest of
the stage dark
$ - dedicated to Jake
$$ - dedicated to Rose Hill Drive
$$$ - with extended vamp and band introductions, including Ryan "Tugboat"
Thornton
Show Notes:
17 second dropout at the end of Mandy Moore (d3t08) caused by the DAT deck I patched out of changing tape. No music is lost. I kept the silence in to keep the time continuity of the show.
